SunSirs: Bromine Prices Generally Increased in January
February 02 2026 10:18:37SunSirs(John)

Price trend

According to the business data analysis system of SunSirs, the price of bromine generally increased this month. The average market price at the beginning of the month was 36,100 RMB/ton, and the average market price at the end of the week was 41,400 RMB/ton, representing a price increase of 14.68%, and an increase of 89.91% compared to the same period last year.

On December 30th, the SunSirs bromine index was 125.61 points, unchanged from the previous day, a decrease of 48.77% from the highest point of 245.18 points (October 27, 2021) within the cycle, and an increase of 113.19% from the lowest point of 58.92 points on October 29, 2014. (Note: The cycle refers to the period from September 1, 2011 to the present)

Market analysis

In January, bromine prices in the Shandong region remained firm. Ex-factory prices in Shandong ranged from 39,000 to 44,000 RMB/ton, with the mainstream price around 41,500 RMB/ton. Inventory replenishment was limited, and supply remained tight, but downstream buyers adopted a wait-and-see attitude, resulting in sluggish market activity. Downstream demand was generally weak. The wait-and-see atmosphere for bromine persisted, with a tense balance between supply and demand, leading to weak actual transaction volumes.

Regarding raw materials: Domestic sulfur prices rose, with the average market price at the beginning of the month being 3,661 RMB/ton and at the end of the month 4,210 RMB/ton, representing a 15% increase and a 147.99% increase compared to the same period last year.

Market outlook:

Bromine prices have been trending stronger this month. Upstream sulfur prices have also been strong this month. Bromine supply was tight, and imports were limited. However, downstream buyers were mostly purchasing on an as-needed basis, continuing a strategy of purchasing only for immediate needs, resulting in an overall weak market trading atmosphere. Overall, it is expected that bromine prices may rise before continuing to consolidate, depending on downstream market demand.
