According to SunSirs’ commodity price analysis system, the price of color coated steel sheets remained stable last week. On January 26th, the market price of color coated steel sheets was 6,350 RMB/ton, and on January 30th, the price was also 6,350 RMB/ton. The price remained stable compared to the previous week, but decreased by 7.299% compared to the same period last year.

Market analysis

Galvanized Steel Sheet: After a slight increase last week, the price of galvanized steel sheet fell. On Friday (January 30th), the price of galvanized steel sheet was 4,055 RMB/ton, an increase of 0.123% compared to the previous week, but a decrease of 8.049% compared to the same period last year. Downstream demand in the coated steel market remained lukewarm, and market transactions were sluggish.

Market outlook

Last week, the supply of the five major steel product categories totaled 8.2317 million tons, a week-on-week increase of 35,800 tons, or 0.4%; total inventory reached 12.7851 million tons, a week-on-week increase of 214,300 tons, or 1.7%; and weekly apparent consumption was 8.0174 million tons, a decrease of 1.0% compared to the previous week.

Considering the approaching off-season, most factories, despite continuously rising costs, maintained their willingness to ship goods, and their quoted prices remained firm at high levels. Last week, most domestic plants operated normally, but production and sales were not yet balanced, resulting in a slight increase in inventory. Therefore, color coated steel sheet prices are expected to remain relatively stable in the short term.
