I. Trading Situation of Domestic Fresh Agricultural Products Wholesale Markets
According to the monitoring of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, in the third week of 2026 (January 12-18, 2026, the same below), the "Agricultural Products Wholesale Price 200 Index" was 128.35 (with 2015 as 100), down 0.66 points from the previous week and up 5.81 points year-on-year.
The "Wholesale Price Index of 'Vegetable Basket' Products" stood at 130.90 (with 2015 as 100), down 0.72 points from the previous week but up 6.84 points year-on-year.
1. The prices of pork and eggs continue to rise.
The average weekly price of pork in the wholesale market was 18.04 CNY per kilogram, rising by 0.8% compared with the previous week. This marked the third consecutive week of increase, with a cumulative rise of 3.4% and a year-on-year decrease of 20.3%.
The average weekly price of beef in the wholesale market was 65.48 CNY per kilogram, a 0.4% decrease compared to the previous week and a 13.4% increase compared to the same period last year.
The average weekly price of mutton in the wholesale market was 63.15 CNY per kilogram, remaining basically the same as the previous week but 6.6% higher than the same period last year.
The average weekly price of white chicken in the wholesale market was 17.50 CNY per kilogram, rising by 0.2% compared with the previous week and 0.5% higher than the same period last year.
The average weekly price of eggs in the wholesale market was 7.73 CNY per kilogram, rising by 3.9% compared with the previous week. This marked the second consecutive week of increase and was 23.3% lower than the same period last year.
2. The average price of vegetables has been continuously falling.
The average weekly price of the 28 key monitored vegetables was 5.52 CNY per kilogram, a 1.1% decrease from the previous week. It has slightly declined for five consecutive weeks, with a cumulative drop of 6.9%, 6.4% higher than the same period last year.
By variety, the prices of 17 kinds of vegetables dropped while those of 11 kinds rose.
Among them, the prices of cauliflower, zucchini and cucumber dropped significantly, falling by 6.3%, 6.2% and 5.1% respectively compared with the previous period.
The price of tomatoes dropped by 4.4% month-on-month and has been falling for three consecutive weeks.
The price decline of the remaining varieties was within 5%.
The price of winter melon rose by 3.5% month-on-month, while the price increase of other varieties was within 3%.
3. The prices of aquatic products have fluctuated.
The weekly average prices of grass carp, silver carp, large hairtail and crucian carp in the wholesale market were 16.74 CNY, 16.85 CNY, 40.42 CNY and 19.21 CNY per kilogram respectively, increasing by 1.0%, 0.9%, 0.5% and 0.3% respectively compared with the previous week.
The weekly average prices of silver carp, common carp and large yellow croaker were 10.26 CNY, 13.66 CNY and 44.41 CNY per kilogram respectively, down 1.1%, 0.7% and 0.5% respectively compared with the previous week.
4. The average price of fruits rose slightly.
The average weekly price of the six key monitored fruits was 7.89 CNY per kilogram, up 1.3% month-on-week and 9.6% year-on-year.
By variety, the weekly average prices of Fuji apples, bananas, Kyoho grapes, pineapples, watermelons and pears rose by 2.3%, 1.6%, 1.4%, 0.8%, 0.6% and 0.4% respectively compared with the previous week.
Among other seasonal fruits, the average weekly price of tangerines rose by 1.4% compared with the previous week, while that of navel oranges dropped by 3.0%.
II. International Bulk Agricultural Products
1. The prices of various bulk agricultural products dropped month-on-month.
The closing weekly average prices of the latest futures contracts for wheat, corn and soybeans on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange in the United States were $188, $166 and $385 per ton respectively. Compared with the previous week, they dropped by 0.6%, 5.2% and 1.3% respectively. Compared with the same period last year, they were 5.6% lower, 11.7% lower and 0.3% higher respectively.
The average weekly price of 100% B-grade and 5% broken rate rice from Thailand in Bangkok was $420 and $404 per ton respectively. Compared with the previous week, it dropped by 3.4% and 3.5% respectively, and compared with the same period last year, it was 14.9% and 16.0% lower respectively.
The average weekly price of raw sugar by the International Sugar Council was 14.55 cents per pound (321 US dollars per ton), down 0.2% from the previous week and 18.1% from the same period last year.
2. The prices of soybean oil and cotton rose slightly.
The closing weekly average price of the latest soybean oil futures contract on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange in the United States was $1,133 per ton, up 4.6% week-on-week and 12.6% year-on-year.
The international cotton price Index (SM grade) was 74.70 cents per pound (1,647 US dollars per ton), up 0.3% month-on-month but down 5.0% year-on-year.
