SunSirs: Bromine Prices Generally Increased in December
January 05 2026 16:04:20SunSirs(John)

Price trend

According to the commodity price analysis system of SunSirs, the price of bromine rose overall this month. The average market price at the beginning of the month was 33,200 RMB/ton, and the average market price at the end of the week was 36,100 RMB/ton, an increase of 8.73%, and a 64.84% increase compared to the same period last year.

On December 30th, the SunSirs bromine index was 125.61 points, unchanged from the previous day, a decrease of 48.77% from the highest point of 245.18 points (October 27, 2021) within the cycle, and an increase of 113.19% from the lowest point of 58.92 points on October 29, 2014. (Note: The cycle refers to the period from September 1, 2011 to the present)

Market Analysis

Recently, bromine prices in Shandong province remained firm. The spot ex-factory price was approximately 35,500-36,500 RMB/ton, with the mainstream transaction price reaching 36,000 RMB/ton. Due to weather and policy reasons, domestic bromine producers still faced tight inventory levels, and the industry's operating rate was insufficient. However, downstream companies' purchasing enthusiasm was generally moderate.

Regarding raw materials: Domestic sulfur prices were rising. The average market price at the beginning of the month was 3,867.67 RMB/ton, and the average market price at the end of the month was 3,661 RMB/ton, a decrease of 5.34%, but an increase of 116.5% compared to the same period last year. Downstream demand remained fair.

Market Outlook:

Bromine prices were trending stronger this month, while upstream sulfur prices were weaker.  Bromine supply was tight, but downstream buyers were mostly purchasing on an as-needed basis, continuing their strategy of buying only for immediate needs. The overall market trading atmosphere was relatively subdued. Overall, it is expected that bromine prices will continue to consolidate in the near future, depending on downstream market demand.
