On December 29, the main project construction and core equipment installation of the second phase of the Tibetan giant dragon copper mine expansion and transformation project were completed and successfully linked for trial operation, taking a key step before production.
After the completion of Phase II, the daily processing capacity of ore will increase by 200,000 tons. At that time, the combined daily processing capacity of Jilong Phase I and Phase II will reach 350,000 tons, which is equivalent to creating another "Jilong". This world-class super-large copper mine, the largest in China and the highest in the world, with the lowest selected grade, will initially form a scale.
The second phase of the Jilong Copper Mine is a world-class mining project. Since its launch in 2024, it has overcome one "world-class" challenge and difficulty after another. The project is located in the ultra-high altitude zone above 5,000 meters above sea level, where human and machine efficiency is extremely reduced, the technical system is extremely complex, and the hard rock excavation of the cantilever boring machine and the foundation treatment of the complex glacial strata at high altitude are all domestic firsts in similar conditions. Moreover, the key nodes of the entire line are interlinked and the buffer time is extremely limited. Faced with the extreme environment and various difficulties, all the construction workers have overcome one technical difficulty after another in the harsh environment of high cold and hypoxia, and completed the construction of various key nodes ahead of schedule, ensuring the overall high-quality and timely progress of the project.
Next, the second phase of the Jilong Copper Mine will enter the final sprint stage of full commissioning and formal production. All the builders will push the project construction with greater enthusiasm and high spirits, open a new chapter for Zijin Mining's long-term layout in Tibet, and set a new benchmark for the efficient and intensive development and utilization of China's copper mine resources.
It was also learned that the planning of the third phase of the Julong Copper Mine has been advancing in parallel, and after the completion of the third phase, the Julong Copper Mine will join the ranks of the world's largest copper mines in terms of mining and processing scale, and become a model for the development of world-class copper mines.
