At 10:54 on December 3, with the successful fifth impact closing test of the No. 2 main transformer, the 500 kV new energy collection and transmission project in Arong Banner was put into operation smoothly.

The Plenary Session IV of the 20th CPC Central Committee clearly made an important deployment of " Firmly establishing and practicing the concept that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets, taking carbon peaking and carbon neutrality as the lead, and coordinating the reduction of carbon, the control of pollution, the expansion of green space, and the promotion of economic growth, to build a solid ecological security barrier and enhance the momentum of green development".

As a supporting project of the third batch of large-scale wind and photovoltaic bases in the "Sand, Gobi and Desert" area of China, and also a key construction project in the "14th Five-Year Plan" period of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the 500 kV new energy collection and transmission project in Arong Banner is of great significance. The smooth commissioning of this project is a concrete implementation of the relevant deployment requirements of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee, and it is also a key carrier to promote the deep integration of high-quality development in the region and the "double carbon" goal, injecting strong impetus into the green and low-carbon transformation of the local area.

It is understood that the project started construction in August 2024, with a new 500 kV substation built, planning 3 sets of 1200 MVA main transformers, and 2 sets built in this period. The 500 kV is planned to have 7 outgoing lines, with 1 built in this period. The 220 kV is planned to have 16 outgoing lines in the long term, with 5 built in this period, and all outdoor HGIS combined electrical appliances are used. The total construction area of the station is 3398 square meters, with a new 95.496 km single-circuit 500 kV overhead line from Arunqi to Lingdong, with 227 towers, and the total investment is 730 million RMB.

After the project is put into operation, it will efficiently undertake the third batch of large bases such as the 1 million kilowatt wind power project of the second phase of the East Mountain-Imu DC transmission in Inner Mongolia and the 600,000 kilowatt wind power project of the Moli Da'wa State Energy, etc., improving the ability to consume new energy in the Lingdong area of Hulunbuir, and can transmit 4.488 billion kilowatt-hours of green electricity to the outside world every year, which is equivalent to the amount of electricity used by 3.74 million families in a year, and save 1.3463 million tons of standard coal every year, which is equivalent to reducing 3.501 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

At the same time, the project will inject stable power into the green industry development of Arongqi and the Hulunbuir Lingdong area, promote the industrialization and upgrading of the new energy industry chain, enhance the power supply capacity and reliability of the power grid, promote the clean and green consumption of energy in the region, and thus help the early landing of investment projects and drive the high-quality development of the regional economy.
