According to CCTV News, on November 22, the China State Railway Group announced that from January to October this year, national railways transported a cumulative total of 3.378 billion tons of freight, marking a 3% year-on-year increase and setting a new record high for the same period in history.
During the first ten months, freight services continued to improve. The “single-document system” for rail-water intermodal transport secured 30,000 TEUs in bookings, with national railways handling 14.258 million TEUs of intermodal container cargo—a 16.2% year-on-year increase.
Service quality continued to improve. Railway logistics turnkey services secured cumulative contracts totaling 1.36 billion tons. The China Railway Network Freight Logistics Platform now hosts 162,000 registered trucks, providing customers with door-to-door rail delivery services.
Cross-border freight transportation remained stable and unimpeded. From January to October, China-Europe and China-Central Asia freight trains operated 28,000 trips, up 7.8% year-on-year. The China-Laos Railway transported 4.52 million tons of cross-border cargo, a 14% increase. The Western Land-Sea New Channel transported 1.2 million TEUs of containers, surging 64% year-on-year, facilitating international economic and trade exchanges.
Key material transportation was effectively secured. Green channels were established for transporting critical goods such as grain from Northeast China and coal from Xinjiang. From January to October, national railways transported 1.732 billion tons of coal, including 1.178 billion tons of thermal coal. Shipments of metallurgical materials and grain increased by 9.1% and 13.8% year-on-year, respectively. These efforts provided strong support for reducing logistics costs across society and ensuring the stable operation of the national economy.
