New breakthroughs have been made in mineral exploration in Sichuan. On November 26, the reporter learned from the Department of Natural Resources that the "Exploration of the Dongbeizhai Gold Deposit in Songpan County, Sichuan Province" project has passed the review by the Provincial Mineral Resources Reserve Evaluation Center. The results show that the newly added gold resource amount in this review of the Dongbeizhai Gold Mine is 28.24 tons, with a cumulative proven gold resource amount of 81.06 tons, reaching a super-large scale. The average grade of gold in the deposit is 3.75 grams per ton, making it the gold mine with the largest registered resource amount in Sichuan so far.

The exploration work of the Dongbeizhai gold deposit is undertaken by the 10th Geological Brigade under the Provincial Bureau of Geology. This gold mine was discovered in the 1970s. After years of systematic exploration, a total of nearly 100,000 meters of drilling, more than 4,000 meters of tunnels have been completed, and 35,000 samples of various types have been collected, finally achieving a major breakthrough in ore prospecting.

In addition to prospecting work, the project has carried out a number of special topics, such as the study and prediction of the ore-forming mechanism of the Northeast Village gold mine, the study of the relationship between tectonic movement and ore formation, and so on. The research is carried out from multiple dimensions such as tectonic dynamics characteristics and mineralogy characteristics, further summarizing the ore-forming rules of the "Northeast Village style" fine disseminated gold mine, and establishing a mineralization model. At the same time, the project has carried out beneficiation tests, breaking through the technical difficulties of beneficiation of high arsenic and high carbon gold ore in this area, laying a foundation for the next step in the development and utilization of the ore bed.

The discovery of the Dongbeizhai gold deposit has changed the traditional pattern of gold exploration and development in the Sichuan province, provided resource guarantees for building a strategic gold base in the western Sichuan region, significantly enhanced Sichuan's strategic position in the national gold sector, and also offered important experience and a model for the exploration of similar deposits in China.
