Reporters learned from the National Pipeline Network today (the 19th) that China's first high-pressure natural gas long-distance pipeline residual pressure power generation project, the Haimen Station natural gas residual pressure power generation project, was officially put into operation in Nantong, Jiangsu. The project has achieved efficient utilization of residual pressure resources in the process of high-pressure natural gas transmission, marking a breakthrough in China's long-distance pipeline energy comprehensive utilization field.
The natural gas residual pressure power generation project at the Haimen station is to recover the residual pressure of natural gas transported to the urban gate station through pipelines, convert this pressure potential energy into mechanical energy, and then drive the expansion power generation unit to rotate, ultimately generating clean electricity.
Li Xiao, a first-class engineer at China National Pipeline Group's West-to-East Gas Transmission Company: In the past, this energy could not be effectively utilized during the pressure regulation process. Now, the new process not only ensures normal gas transmission but also generates about 3 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, which is equivalent to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by more than 2,000 tons.
China has independently developed, designed and manufactured the core equipment of the power generation project, innovatively adopting adjustable guide vanes and 3D printed impellers, and efficiently regenerating low-temperature natural gas through natural ventilation, significantly reducing the energy consumption of the equipment itself while successfully solving multiple technical problems such as high pressure and small flow rate, achieving a dual improvement in resource conservation and environmental benefits. The new equipment operates in parallel with the original pressure regulation system in the station. In the event of a power generation equipment shutdown, the original system can rely on its automatic distribution function to take over the gas supply task without interruption, providing a reliable dual guarantee for the safe and stable gas supply for residents and enterprises.
Wang Shijun, Deputy General Manager of West-to-East Gas Transmission Company of the National Pipeline Network Group: In the next step, we will gradually promote the domestic high-pressure power generation equipment of megawatt level in typical branch stations in the Yangtze River Delta region, and continuously promote the integrated application of green and low-carbon technologies.
According to the calculation, under the condition of adopting the natural gas self-heating scheme, the total installed capacity of the surplus pressure power generation project of the high-pressure natural gas long-distance pipeline in China has reached 42,000 kilowatts.
