Data released by the National Bureau of Statistics shows that coal prices across all varieties continued to climb during the first half of November. Specific price changes for each coal type are as follows:
Anthracite (washed medium lump, volatile matter ≤8%) priced at 949.5 RMB/ton, up 45.5 RMB/ton from the previous period, a 5.0% increase.
Ordinary mixed coal (Shanxi pulverized coal blended with lump coal, calorific value 4500 kcal) priced at 611.8 RMB/ton, up 24.4 RMB/ton from the previous period, a 4.2% increase.
Shanxi Large-Mix (higher-quality mixed coal, calorific value 5000 kcal) priced at 703.2 RMB/ton, up 26.8 RMB/ton from the previous period, a 4.0% increase.
Shanxi Premium-Mix (premium mixed coal, calorific value 5500 kcal) priced at 795.5 RMB/ton, up 28.5 RMB/ton from the previous period, a 3.7% increase.
Datong Mixed Coal (Datong-produced mixed coal, calorific value 5800 kcal) was priced at 839.0 RMB/ton, up 30.2 RMB/ton or 3.7% from the previous period.
Coking Coal (main coking coal, sulfur content <1%) was priced at 1623.3 RMB/ton, up 74.5 RMB/ton or 4.8% from the previous period.
Data indicates that in early November, price increases for coking coal and anthracite coal accelerated, while the rise in thermal coal prices moderated slightly.
Additionally, in early November, the national price for coke (quasi-grade metallurgical coke, ash content 12.01% ≤ 13.50%) reached 1,479.7 RMB/ton, up 58.3 RMB/ton from the previous period, representing a 4.1% increase.
