On November 6th, the European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers Association (ETRMA) released market data showing that European replacement tire sales in the third quarter of 2025 decreased by 0.6% year-on-year to 63.984 million units.
Specifically, passenger car tire sales decreased by 0.5% year-on-year to 58.932 million units; truck and bus tire shipments decreased by 4% year-on-year to 3.015 million units; agricultural tire shipments increased by 0.6% year-on-year to 162,000 units; and motorcycle/scooter tire shipments increased by 1% year-on-year to 1.875 million units.
The ETRMA Secretary General stated that the tire market was generally stable in the third quarter of 2025, but demand in the truck and bus tire sector remained weak. Data from the first three quarters shows that tire sales were generally lower than the same period in 2024.
In the consumer goods sector, sales were flat in the third quarter, with a slight decline year-to-date. Demand for automotive tires has clearly shifted from summer tires to all-season and winter tires.
The decline in the truck and bus tire market that began in the second quarter continued into the third quarter. Year-to-date sales are slightly lower, reflecting sluggish economic activity in the region and increased tire imports.
While sales in the agricultural tire category remained stable this quarter, they are still well below pre-COVID-19 levels.
