According to the commodity market analysis system of SunSirs: the price of activated charcoal was 12,600 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week and 12,633 RMB/ton at the end of the week, an increase of 0.26%.

Analysis review

Domestic coconut shell activated charcoal manufacturers raised prices last week. The ex-factory price of coconut shell activated charcoal for water purification in East China was between 9,500 and 13,000 RMB/ton. Strong demand for coconut shell activated charcoal in water treatment, air purification, sodium-ion batteries and other fields supported the price increase. In addition, the high transportation requirements of coconut shell carbonized materials, packaging, insurance and port operations and other costs supported the high price of activated charcoal.

Prices for wood-based and bamboo-based activated charcoal fluctuated relatively little. Physically produced wood-based and bamboo-based charcoal were supported by costs, and factory prices remained stable. Southeast Asian coconut-producing countries faced raw material shortages due to natural disasters and policy adjustments. Although some countries had expansion plans, the tight supply situation is unlikely to change in the short term, and prices are expected to remain high.

Market outlook

There is a shortage of coconut shell activated charcoal raw materials in China, and the price of activated charcoal is expected to fluctuate at a high level in the short term.
