At present, the global geopolitical competition is intensifying, and the competition among major economies for mineral resources is becoming increasingly fierce. Mining exploration and development technology equipment has become an important guarantee for countries to maintain the security of the industrial and supply chains of mineral resources. Since 2024, new technologies represented by AI, big data, and the Internet of Things have accelerated the transformation and upgrading of the global mining industry towards digitalization, intelligence, and greening.

01 AI technology is reconstructing the paradigm of mineral exploration

At present, the hotspots in the field of AI prospecting include intelligent prediction technology based on mineral exploration knowledge graph, image recognition and processing technology based on deep learning, and data analysis technology based on machine learning algorithms. The mineral exploration knowledge graph achieves intelligent information retrieval and analysis by associating and expressing the relationship between various elements such as geological, mineral, ore body and exploration and development technology of the ore deposit, guiding the prediction and evaluation of mineral resources. By using image enhancement and transfer learning, the ability of image data collection and model performance can be improved, and combined with supervised learning based on geological maps, it can effectively improve the ability of automated remote sensing image processing and rock and mineral identification. Thanks to the ability of machine learning algorithms to process complex and unknown multi-dimensional data, AI has now become an important tool for analyzing geophysical and geochemical data and extracting mineralization anomalies.

02 Development of geological physics technology equipment towards integration and integration.

With the increasing difficulty of open-pit and shallow mineral exploration, mineral exploration has gradually shifted to deep, "difficult to access" and covered areas. The use of a single technology can no longer meet the needs of mineral exploration. Geophysical exploration is increasingly inclined to the comprehensive use of gravity, electrical, magnetic and seismic prospecting. Thanks to the development of sensors, commercial exploration equipment has been able to achieve the simultaneous reception of multi-physical field data. At present, aerial geophysical exploration equipment has achieved the simultaneous reception of TEM, VLF and AFMAG data, and ground geophysical exploration equipment has achieved the simultaneous reception of CSEM, MT and IP data, which has effectively improved the efficiency of exploration operations and reduced the cost of operations.

03 Day–Sky–Ground Three-dimensional Remote Sensing Prospecting Technology System is gradually improved

With the rapid development of satellite, aerial and ground-based remote sensing technologies, multi-spectral and hyper-spectral remote sensing data are more widely used in the field of geological mineral exploration. Remote sensing satellites can provide high-resolution multi-spectral and hyper-spectral remote sensing data with meter-level and sub-meter level for large-scale geological structure, rock analysis and alteration zone identification. Ground samples and drilling spectral data, combined with satellite and aerial remote sensing data, can construct a multi-platform high-spectral data coupling of sky–space–ground, which can achieve multi-scale mineral fine identification and alteration zone delimitation, and effectively improve the information accuracy in the process of remote sensing mineral exploration.

04 The intelligent transformation of mining continues to evolve, with AI becoming the main driving force for the development of smart mines.

The world's major mining countries and regions, such as the European Union, Canada, and Australia, continue to promote the construction of smart mines, and China has proposed to establish a complete set of intelligent mining technology, equipment, and management system, to achieve deep integration and shared application of mining data, and to promote the reduction of personnel in mining operations and the realization of unmanned mining. At present, the application of artificial intelligence technology has covered the entire chain of links such as mining, safety monitoring, equipment maintenance, and management decision-making, and has played an important role in improving production efficiency, safety, and resource utilization.

05 New energy technology driving low-carbon emission reduction in mines

Since 2024, new energy mine technology equipment has been continuously breaking through, accelerating the replacement of traditional fuel equipment. The development of battery and charging technology has continuously improved the total cost of ownership (TCO) competitiveness of electric mine cards. At present, the energy density of commercial pure electric mine card batteries exceeds 150Wh/kg, and the capacity exceeds 1000kWh. The application of high-voltage and high-current, parallel charging and liquid cooling technology has supported the super-fast charging of megawatt level, and has achieved full charging from 0% to 100% in 1.5 hours. Breakthroughs have been made in pure electric and hydrogen-fueled large new energy mine cards of 200 tons level.
