Recently, from shale oil in Xinjiang to the integrated water, wind and solar power base in the Yarlung Zangbo River Basin, and then to the "super battery" in Jiangsu, China has made key breakthroughs in the energy sector, making solid progress in three major projects.
China's first national continental shale oil demonstration area has a proven annual production of more than 15 million tons.
China's first national-level continental shale oil demonstration area——the Xinjiang Jimusaer shale oil demonstration zone—produced more than 15 million tons of oil this year, the highest level in the same period of history, marking a new stage in China's shale oil development, from technological exploration to large-scale and stable production.
As of now, the demonstration area has cumulatively produced 5.19 million tons of shale oil, making it the first shale oil production base in China with an annual output exceeding one million tons. The Xinjiang Jimusaer Shale Oil Demonstration Area is located in the Xinjiang Oilfield, which is the first major oilfield in New China. The shale oil resource base exceeds 1 billion tons, and both the resource storage and development scale are in the leading position in China. In the 70 years since its establishment, the Xinjiang Oilfield has cumulatively produced more than 560 million tons of oil and gas equivalent.
New breakthroughs in the construction of China's first water, wind, and solar integrated base
On the morning of October 28, the country's first integrated water, wind, and solar power base, the Yarlung Zangbo River Basin's integrated water, wind, and solar power base's Mengdi Gorge and the first phase of the Yage Gorge, two large hydropower stations, will achieve synchronous river-blocking. The synchronous river-blocking of the two large hydropower stations is a first in the Yarlung Zangbo River Basin, marking a new breakthrough in the construction of the country's first integrated water, wind, and solar power base and the entrance into a new stage of main project construction for the power station.
The two power stations are the backbone of the middle reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River. The Mengdigou Hydropower Station has an installed capacity of 2.4 million kilowatts and is the largest hydropower project under construction in the Yarlung Zangbo River Basin, which can drive the development of wind and solar new energy resources that are 1.6 times its own scale; the Yage No.1 Hydropower Station has an installed capacity of 300,000 kilowatts and is a "best partner" of the giant reservoir, Lianghekou, which can fully release the regulation capacity of the upstream reservoir and maximize the efficiency of every cubic meter of water. The two power stations, working together, can save 3.5 million tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 9 million tons every year, injecting strong impetus into green and low-carbon development.
The world's highest pumped storage power station is fully operational.
On October 28, the world's highest dam pumped storage power station, the State Grid New Source Jiangsu Jujiang Pumped Storage Power Station, was fully put into operation.
The power station is located in Junling City, Jiangsu Province. A total of 6 reversible pump-turbine generator units with a single unit capacity of 22.5 million kilowatts are installed, with a total installed capacity of 135 million kilowatts, an annual power generation of 1.35 billion kilowatt-hours, and the electricity generated can meet the electricity demand of about 360,000 households for one year. The dam of the upper reservoir of the power station is 182.3 meters high, which is the world's highest dam of the pumped storage power station, with a storage capacity of 17.07 million cubic meters, which is equivalent to 1.2 times the storage capacity of the West Lake.
