According to China Chemical Industry Weekly, on October 23, the Department of Ecology and Environment of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region announced the acceptance of environmental impact assessment documents for the product restructuring project of Xinjiang Haoyuan Chemical Co., Ltd.'s 600,000-ton synthetic gas-to-ethanol facility.
Xinjiang Haoyuan Chemical Co., Ltd. plans to construct a 600,000-ton-per-year syngas-to-ethanol facility. The project will utilize syngas from the company's photovoltaic hydrogen production coupled with resources, cleanly utilizing raw coal gas from Phase II of its low-carbon integrated project. Through shift conversion, acid gas removal, and CO deep cryogenic separation, CO gas will be produced. This CO gas will be combined with externally purchased methanol to produce acetic acid using low-pressure methanol carbonylation technology. Acetic acid and ethanol will be used in an esterification process to produce ethyl acetate, which will then be hydrogenated to produce ethanol.
Key project facilities include coal gasification, shift conversion, sour gas removal, sulfur recovery, CO cryogenic separation, hydrogen product purification, acetic acid, ethyl acetate, ethanol units, and public utilities. Newly constructed facilities comprise CO cryogenic separation, hydrogen product purification, acetic acid, ethyl acetate, and ethanol units.
The gasification, shift conversion, sour gas stripping, sulfur recovery, and part of the utility facilities will be supported by the Xinjiang Haoyuan Chemical Co., Ltd. Photovoltaic Hydrogen Production Coupled with Resource Clean Utilization Low-Carbon Integration Project. The gasifier for this project will utilize one 2000 t/d aerospace furnace from the aforementioned Xinjiang Haoyuan Chemical Photovoltaic Hydrogen Production Coupled with Resource Clean Utilization Low-Carbon Integration Project.
The project includes one acetic acid unit with a capacity of 800,000 tons/year. It adopts domestic low-pressure carbonylation synthesis technology for methanol-to-acetic acid production. The unit comprises synthesis, distillation, absorption, and catalyst regeneration sections. Ethanol is ultimately produced via the indirect ethyl acetate process at a capacity of 600,000 tons/year.
As an integrated internet platform providing benchmark prices, on October 29, the SunSirs ethanol benchmark price was 5,398.33 RMB/ton, down 2.92% from the beginning of this month (5,560.56 RMB/ton).
