Price trend
According to the SunSirs commodity market analysis system, bromine prices rose last week. The average market price at the beginning of the week was 28,400 RMB/ton, and by the end of the week it was 30,000 RMB/ton, a 5.63% increase and a 41.51% year-on-year increase.
On October 23rd, the SunSirs Bromine Index was 103.51 points, unchanged from the previous day. This was a 57.78% decrease from the intra-cyclical high of 245.18 points (October 27, 2021), and a 75.68% increase from the intra-cyclical low of 58.92 points on October 29, 2014. (Note: The period refers to the period from September 1, 2011 to the present.)
Analysis review
Bromine prices rose last week, with spot prices in Shandong Province ranging from 29,000 to 31,000 RMB/ton ex-factory. Due to weather and regulatory factors, domestic bromine inventories remained tight, and industry utilization rates were low, but downstream companies remainned generally active in purchasing.
Regarding raw materials, domestic sulfur prices rose last week, averaging 2,901 RMB/ton at the start of the week and 3,157.67 RMB/ton at the weekend, an increase of 8.85% and 114.48% year-on-year. Downstream demand remained generally flat.
Market outlook
Bromine prices were rising recently, and upstream sulfur prices we strong recently. Bromine prices were strong last week. Downstream companies mostly purchasde on demand and were resistant to bromine price increases. It is generally expected that bromine may continue to be stronger in the future, depending on the downstream market demand.
