Customs statistics indicate that China exported approximately 43,400 metric tons of various magnesium products in September 2025, marking a 12.1% increase month-on-month and a 32.3% rise year-on-year. From January to September 2025, China exported approximately 340,200 metric tons of various magnesium products, down 0.18% year-on-year. Specifically: - Magnesium ingots: approximately 193,800 metric tons, down 0.82% year-on-year - Magnesium alloys: approximately 72,900 metric tons, up 0.41% year-on-year - Magnesium powder: approximately 56,100 metric tons, down 8.78% year-on-year
China's magnesium product exports in September 2025 increased by 12.1% month-on-month and 32.3% year-on-year, indicating significantly strengthened international demand. This will directly boost spot magnesium prices. Export growth typically reflects relatively tight supply or expanding demand. Particularly, simultaneous month-on-month and year-on-year growth highlights optimistic market sentiment, potentially driving spot prices upward.
However, the 0.18% year-on-year decline in total exports from January to September—including a 0.82% drop in magnesium ingot exports and an 8.78% decrease in magnesium powder exports—partially offsets these positive factors. Spot prices are expected to see a moderate increase in the short term.
