From January to September 2025, China's cumulative stainless steel imports reached 1.138 million metric tons, while exports totaled 3.7827 million metric tons.
In September 2025, China imported 120,300 metric tons of stainless steel products, marking a month-on-month increase of 3,200 metric tons (2.7%) and a year-on-year rise of 475 metric tons (0.04%). Indonesia remained China's largest stainless steel supplier. In September 2025, China imported 95,800 metric tons of stainless steel from Indonesia, marking a 0.49% month-on-month increase and a 4.48% year-on-year rise. Imports from South Korea, Germany, and other regions declined month-on-month. The top five import sources collectively supplied 111,200 metric tons, accounting for 92.41% of total imports.
From January to September 2025, China's total stainless steel imports reached 1.138 million tons, a decrease of 308,900 tons or 21.35% year-on-year. Cumulative imports from Indonesia reached 913,700 metric tons during this period, down 24.81% year-on-year. Breakdown: September imports of wide cold-rolled coil totaled 76,900 metric tons, up 28.82% month-on-month and 93.55% year-on-year; September imports of wide hot-rolled coils totaled 3,700 metric tons, down 74.23% month-on-month and 70.57% year-on-year; September imports of other products and semi-finished goods reached 15,200 metric tons (including 12,600 metric tons of billets and 2,600 metric tons of slabs), down 28.63% month-on-month and 61.44% year-on-year.
In September 2025, exports totaled 418,500 metric tons, down 29,300 metric tons (6.55%) month-on-month and down 40,000 metric tons (8.72%) year-on-year. Net exports reached 298,200 metric tons, decreasing by 32,500 metric tons (9.83%) month-on-month and by 40,500 metric tons (11.95%) year-on-year.
From January to September 2025, total exports reached 3.7827 million tons, an increase of 60,900 tons or 1.64% year-on-year. Net exports totaled 2.6448 million tons, an increase of 369,800 tons or 16.25% year-on-year.
