Price trend
According to the SunSirs commodity market analysis system, bromine prices remained stable last week. The average market price from the beginning of the week to the end of the week was 27,900 RMB/ton, up 39.08% year-on-year.
On October 16th, the SunSirs Bromine Index was 97.89 points, unchanged from the previous day. This represents a 60.07% decrease from the intra-cyclical high of 245.18 points (October 27, 2021), and a 66.14% increase from the intra-cyclical low of 58.92 points (October 29, 2014). (Note: The intra-cyclical period refers to the period from September 1, 2011 to the present.)
Analysis review
Bromine prices remained stable last week, with spot prices in Shandong Province ranging from 28,000 to 29,000 RMB/ton ex-factory. Due to weather and regulatory factors, bromine manufacturers were facing tight inventories and insufficient industry utilization, but downstream companies were generally active in purchasing.
Regarding raw materials, domestic sulfur prices remained stable last week, averaging 2,667.67 RMB/ton at the start of the week and 2,761 RMB/ton at the end of the week, a 3.5% increase and an 88.98% year-on-year increase. Downstream demand was generally flat.
Market outlook
Bromine prices were stable recently, with upstream sulfur prices showing strength. Bromine prices remained stable last week, with downstream buyers primarily purchasing on demand. Overall market activity was generally moderate. Downstream trading was generally average, and it is expected that bromine prices may continue to consolidate in the future, depending on downstream market demand.
