According to data released by the General Administration of Customs on October 10th, China's import volume of pulp in August 2025 was 2.653 million tons, a decrease of 7.8% month on month and 5.5% year-on-year. The cumulative import volume for the whole year was 24.108 million tons, an increase of 5.0% year-on-year. Among them, the import quantity of bleached needle pulp was 614,000 tons, with a cumulative import volume of 5.74 million tons for the whole year, an increase of 1.4% year-on-year. The imported quantity of bleached broad-leaved pulp is 1.258 million tons. The cumulative import volume for the whole year was 11.152 million tons, with a year-on-year increase of 10.7%.

The import volume in August decreased by 7.8% month on month, which is a short-term positive for tight supply. However, the cumulative import increase of 5.0% for the whole year indicates that the overall supply is sufficient, and the balance of positive and negative factors is overall neutral.

The cumulative import volume for the whole year increased by 1.4%, with a slight increase in supply, which exerted slight pressure on spot prices and was slightly bearish.

The cumulative import volume for the whole year increased significantly by 10.7%, resulting in a significant oversupply and intensified market competition, which had a general negative impact on spot prices.
