Price trend

According to the SunSirs commodity market analysis system, bromine prices generally declined last month. The average market price at the beginning of the month was 29,400 RMB/ton, and by the weekend it was 27,900 RMB/ton, a 5.1% decrease. However, it's still up 40.48% year-over-year.

On September 28th, the SunSirs Bromine Index was 97.89 points, unchanged from the previous day. This represents a 60.07% decrease from its intra-cyclical high of 245.18 points (October 27, 2021), and a 66.14% increase from its intra-cyclical low of 58.92 points (October 29, 2014). (Note: The period refers to the period from September 1, 2011 to the present.)

Analysis review

Bromine prices were generally declining last month, with spot prices in Shandong Province temporarily ranging from 27,000 to 28,500 RMB/ton ex-factory. Due to environmental inspections and the impact of rainy season, bromine inventory pressure was low for manufacturers, resulting in a relatively tight spot market supply. However, downstream demand was generally weak, resulting in relatively quiet market transactions.

Regarding raw materials, domestic sulfur prices were consolidating, with the average market price at the beginning of the month and ending the month at 2,651 RMB/ton, an increase of 89.67% year-on-year. Downstream demand remained healthy.

Market outlook

Bromine prices had been weak recently, with upstream sulfur prices consolidating. Bromine supply pressure was minimal, with downstream buyers primarily purchasing on demand. With the National Day holiday approaching, downstream buyers were stocking up, and the supply-demand dynamics were keeping bromine prices relatively stable. Overall, we anticipate that bromine prices may remain stable in the coming period, depending on downstream market demand.
