Kazakhstan's Minister of Agriculture, Aidarbek Saparov, stated that Kazakhstan's oilseed production is expected to reach a record 4 million tons this year, a 20.1% increase over the previous year.
Kazakh farmers have harvested approximately 700,000 tons of oilseeds so far.
Saparov stated that Kazakhstan is currently embarking on a path of crop diversification, focusing on more profitable crops. This year, the total area planted with crops increased to 23.6 million hectares, an increase of 322,800 hectares from the previous year. Of this total, the area planted with cereals and legumes decreased by 629,900 hectares, while the area planted with oilseeds expanded to 4 million hectares.
Official data indicate that Kazakhstan's oilseed production in 2024 will reach 3.33 million tons, with a planted area of 2.7 million hectares.
