Price trend
According to the SunSirs commodity market analysis system, bromine prices were weaker last week. The average market price at the beginning of the week was 28,760 RMB/ton, and by the end of the week it was 28,500 RMB/ton, a 0.9% decrease. However, it was up 42.07% year-on-year.
On September 18th, the SunSirs Bromine Index was 100.21 points, unchanged from the previous day. This was a 59.13% decrease from the intra-cyclical high of 245.18 points (October 27, 2021), and a 70.08% increase from the intra-cyclical low of 58.92 points on October 29, 2014. (Note: The intra-cyclical period refers to the period from September 1, 2011 to the present.)
Analysis review
Bromine prices were weaker last week, with spot prices in Shandong Province ranging from 28,000 to 29,500 RMB/ton ex-factory. Due to weather and regulatory factors, bromine manufacturers were facing tight inventories, but downstream companies were generally active in purchasing.
Regarding raw materials, domestic sulfur prices remained stable last week, averaging 2,644.33 RMB/ton from the beginning of the week to the end of the week, a 79.2% increase compared to the same period last year. Downstream demand was generally weak.
Market outlook
Bromine prices have been weak recently, driven by upstream sulfur prices. Bromine prices were weaker last week, with downstream buyers primarily purchasing on demand, and overall market activity remaining generally subdued.
