Analysis review

Domestic activated charcoal manufacturers' prices remained stable this week. The ex-factory price of coconut shell activated charcoal for water purification in East China is between 9,500 and 13,000 RMB/ton. At present, the supply of coconut shell raw materials continues to be tight, and the demand for coconut shells for porous carbon materials for new energy batteries is rising. The high price limits the enthusiasm of downstream transactions and the market is not smooth.

From the supply side, natural disasters have impacted Southeast Asia's main coconut-producing regions, leading to a decline in production and rising costs for domestic companies that rely heavily on imports. Coconut production in countries like the Philippines and Indonesia has also been affected, reducing the supply of coconut shell raw materials and increasing demand for coconut shell activated charcoal in sectors like new energy batteries and gold extraction, keeping prices high.

Future outlook:

Domestic market prices are high and transactions are lower than expected. It is expected that activated charcoal prices will mainly fluctuate in the short term.
