SunSirs: The MDI Market Saw a Slight Increase Last Week (September 8-12)
September 16 2025 09:01:07SunSirs(John)

Price trend

According to the SunSirs commodity market analysis system, the domestic MDI market saw a slight increase from September 8th to 12th, with the average price at the start of the week reaching 14,933 RMB/ton and the weekend price reaching 15,083 RMB/ton, a 1% increase over the week and a 16.59% year-on-year decrease. MDI intermediary prices saw a slight increase during the week, with low-end prices rising, downstream inquiries increased, and transaction volume was limited.

Analysis review

On the supply side, Tocao Ruian's 80,000 tons/year MDI unit was restarted on August 26 and the unit returned to normal.

On the cost side, benzene prices fluctuated last week. Recently, both supply and demand for benzene have been strong, with import pressure easing, domestic maintenance and downstream demand growing. Supply and demand are expected to improve seasonally in the third quarter. Aniline prices have remained stable, with minimal cost fluctuations and a stable trend.

On the demand side, downstream demand was general, the trading atmosphere was cold, and transactions were mainly small orders.

Market outlook

As of September 12, the supplier's production was stable, the supply was replenished quickly, and the middlemen were willing to maintain prices. Pay close attention to actual transaction conditions. It is expected that the MDI market will consolidate in a narrow range in the short term.
