The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) projects U.S. sugar supply for 2024/25 to decrease by 2,700 short tons (STRV) to 14.716 million tons as a decrease in beet sugar production more than offsets an increase in imports. Beet sugar production decreases by 83,500 STRV to 5.332 million tons, primarily due to a 380,000-ton decrease in processors' final estimate of beet chipping volume for the current crop year from last month. Re-export imports increase by 35,000 STRV to 360,000 tons, primarily based on current progress; high-duty imports also increase by 45,800 STRV. For the full year, high-duty imports of raw sugar are projected at 463,000 tons, high-duty imports of refined sugar at 392,000 tons, and other (molasses - converted sugar equivalent) at 55,000 tons. As sugar use remains unchanged, ending stocks increase due to the supply changes.
