From January to July 2025, the total import and export volume of cashmere raw materials and products was $1.041 billion, a decrease of 3.54% year-on-year. The overall trend showed an increase in exports and a decrease in imports.
I. Export situation
From January to July, the total export volume of cashmere raw materials and products was $866 million, an increase of 7.23% year-on-year. Although it did not reach the level of $940 million in the same period of 2023, the export commodity structure continued to adjust, the average unit price of cashmere yarn, cashmere sweaters and scarves all increased, and the export ratio of high-value goods increased, maintaining a recovery growth trend.
1. Cashmere raw materials
Furless fur was exported cumulatively for 1347 tons, with a value of $129 million, a decrease of 24.25% and 23.52% year-on-year, respectively.
2. Cashmere yarn
Cashmere yarn ( Carded, combing and hand-knitted cashmere yarn) was exported cumulatively for 2333 tons, an increase of 33.78% year-on-year; the cumulative export value was $252 million, an increase of 35.38% year-on-year.
3. Carded cashmere fabric
Carded cashmere fabric was exported cumulatively for 71,400 meters, an increase of 7.10% year-on-year. The cumulative export value was $34.247 million, a decrease of 3.10% year-on-year. The average unit price decreased year-on-year, down by 9.52%, and the demand from the foreign market was under pressure.
4. Cashmere sweaters
Cashmere sweaters were exported cumulatively for 118.056 million pieces, a decrease of 7.23% year-on-year; the export value was $411 million, an increase of 6.96% year-on-year, the growth rate slowed down, and the trend of volume decline and price rise continued.
5. Cashmere scarves
Cashmere scarves were exported cumulatively for 3.0852 million pieces, a decrease of 13.16% year-on-year, with a value of $59.3142 million, an increase of 6.50% year-on-year, and the average unit price maintained an upward trend.
II. Import situation
From January to July, the total import volume of cashmere raw materials and products was $176 million, a decrease of 35.47% year-on-year.
1. Raw materials
Fur-free cashmere imported 7,220 tons with a value of $379.457 million.
2. Cashmere Yarn and Fabric
Cashmere yarn ( Carded, combing and Hand-knitted cashmere yarn) imported 198 tons with a value of $22.824.2 million, down 9.99% and 13.08% year-on-year, respectively. Carded cashmere fabric imported 57,900 meters with a value of $5.087.5 million, down 28.64% and 23.47% year-on-year, respectively.
3. Cashmere Sweaters and Scarves
Cashmere sweater imported 149,800 pieces, down 21.81% year-on-year; import value was $62.286.66 million, down 16.35% year-on-year. Due to the change in market demand, the number of imported cashmere sweaters has decreased, and the average unit price increased by 6.98% year-on-year. The import situation of cashmere scarves is similar to that of cashmere sweaters, with a cumulative import of 137,800 pieces and a value of $47.367.0 million, down 35.33% and 28.02% year-on-year, respectively, and the overall import scale is showing a shrinking trend.
