Price trend
According to the SunSirs commodity market analysis system, the domestic MDI market saw a slight decline from September 1st to 5th, with the average price at the start of the week reaching 15,250 RMB/ton and the weekend price reaching 15,083 RMB/ton, a 1.09% decrease over the week and a 15.58% year-on-year decline. Factory operations remained stable during the week, but downstream investors were not very enthusiastic about entering the market, resulting in weak transaction volume.
Analysis review
On the supply side, Tocao Ruian's 80,000 tons/year MDI unit was restarted on August 26 and the unit returned to normal operation.
On the cost side, benzene prices fluctuated this week. Recent destocking at ports has eased import pressure, coupled with domestic maintenance and increased downstream demand. Supply and demand are expected to improve seasonally in the third quarter, leading to a temporary stabilization of aniline prices.
On the demand side, downstream demand is general, the trading atmosphere is cold, and transactions are mainly small orders.
Market outlook
Currently, the supplier's production is stable, the supply is replenished quickly, the middlemen are not able to sell goods smoothly, and the market inventory pressure is increasing. It is expected that the MDI market will maintain a weaker trend in the short term.
