SunSirs: Soda Ash Market in Some Regions of China on September 4

On September 4, the benchmark price of light soda ash from Sinochem was 1,186.00 RMB/ton, down 1.98% from the beginning of this month (1,210.00 RMB/ton). The benchmark price of heavy soda ash from SunSirs was 1,262.50 RMB/ton, down 2.13% from the beginning of this month (1,290.00 RMB/ton).

On September 4th, soda ash prices in central China were around 1,100-1,300 RMB/ton for light soda ash, a 30 RMB/ton price reduction compared to the price on September 1st. Prices for heavy soda ash were around 1,200-1,400 RMB/ton, a 50 RMB/ton price reduction compared to thr on August 28th. Soda ash production capacity utilization remained high, with stable supply. Downstream investors were not enthusiastic about entering the market, resulting in moderate soda ash consumption and limited shipments. The soda ash market in central China is expected to remain stable in the short term.

On September 4th, soda ash prices in North China were around 1,200-1,270 RMB/ton for light soda ash, a 30 RMB/ton decrease from the price on September 1st. Prices for heavy soda ash were around 1,300-1,350 RMB/ton, a 50 RMB/ton decrease from the price on September 1st. Supply-side capacity utilization remained high, and downstream companies entered the market based on demand. Market trading was subdued, and soda ash inventory pressures were high. In the short term, the soda ash market in North China is expected to remain stable.

On September 4th, soda ash prices in East China were around 1,100-1,400 RMB/ton for light soda ash, a 10 RMB/ton decrease from the price on September 1st. Heavy soda ash prices were around 1,200-1,300 RMB/ton, a 30 RMB/ton decrease from the price of September 2nd. Supply-side capacity utilization remained high, downstream restocking was modest, and only a small amount of low-priced, just-in-time purchases were made. Market activity was subdued. In the short term, the soda ash market in East China is expected to remain on the sidelines.
