Price trend

According to the commodity market analysis system of SunSirs, the price of activated charcoal was 12,833 RMB/ton at the beginning of the month and 12,866 RMB/ton at the end of the month, with a price increase of 0.26%.

Analysis review

Domestic activated charcoal manufacturers' quotations first rose and then fell this month, showing an overall upward trend. The ex-factory price of coconut shell activated charcoal for water purification (iodine value 1000) was between 10,000 and 13,500 RMB/ton. The demand for coconut shell activated charcoal in traditional fields such as water treatment and air purification continued to grow. The high price limited transaction enthusiasm, and it needed to focus on market transaction conditions.

Internationally, imports of coconut shell charcoal (primarily coconut shell) reached 11,092.3 tons in July 2025, a 3% decrease month-over-month and a 31% decrease year-over-year. China's "dual carbon" strategy requires activated charcoal companies to use high-fixed carbon feedstock (≥70%). Vietnam's low-quality carbonized materials were being phased out due to their inability to meet carbon emission accounting requirements, leading to a shift in import demand to higher-quality sources such as Indonesia and the Philippines.

Market outlook

The domestic supply of activated charcoal raw materials was tight and the room for price increases was limited. It is expected that the price of activated charcoal may fluctuate and tend to be stronger in the short term.
