SunSirs: Domestic Titanium Dioxide Market Prices Fell in July
July 31 2025 15:40:55SunSirs(John)

Price trend

Taking the sulfuric acid method rutile titanium dioxide with a large volume of goods in the domestic market as an example, data from SunSirs shows that domestic titanium dioxide prices fell in July. The average price was 13,720 RMB/ton on July 1, and 13,640 RMB/ton on July 27, a 0.58% decrease.

Analysis review

Domestic titanium dioxide prices declined in July. Market activity was subdued in the first half of the month, with downstream factories and traders largely on the sidelines. Trading activity was weak, shifting the market's center downward. Overall downstream demand weakened in the middle of the month, leading to cautious purchases and a temporary stabilization of the market. Favorable support was hard to find in the second half of the month, leading to a slight downward adjustment. As of July 30th, the domestic quotation for sulfuric acid based rutile type titanium dioxide was mostly between 12,900 and 14,100 RMB/ton; The quotation for anatase titanium dioxide was around 11,900 to 12,300 RMB/ton. Actual transaction prices were subject to negotiation.

Titanium concentrate prices saw a volatile upward trend in July. Reduced raw ore supply in the Panxi region this month, coupled with high costs, led to a slight price increase. However, weak end-user demand, underutilization, and cautious raw material procurement were temporarily driving down prices. As of July 30th, small and medium-sized manufacturers were offering prices for 46, 10 titanium ores ranging from 1,750 to 2,000 RMB/ton; 47, 20 titanium ores were priced from 1,900 to 2,100 RMB/ton; and 38 titanium medium ore was quoted at around 1,100 to 1,200 RMB/ton, excluding tax. The market is expected to remain stable in the short term.

According to customs data, China imported 4,888.56 tons of titanium dioxide in June 2025, a year-on-year decrease of 35.23% and a month-on-month decrease of 34.54%. Of this total, 3,504.32 tons were imported from the chloride process, and 1,384.14 tons were from the sulfate process. From January to June 2025, total titanium dioxide imports reached 39,700 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 16.69%. Of this, 16,100 tons were imported from the sulfate process, a year-on-year increase of 15.44%, while 23,600 tons were imported from the chloride process, a year-on-year decrease of 30.06%.

According to customs data, my country exported 131,900 tons of titanium dioxide in June 2025, a year-on-year decrease of 25.20% and a month-on-month decrease of 2.72%. Of this total, 107,500 tons were exported from the sulfuric acid process, a 2.89% decrease from the previous month, and 24,400 tons were exported from the chloride process, a 2.00% decrease from the previous month. From January to June 2025, total titanium dioxide exports reached approximately 916,600 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 5.76%, or approximately 56,000 tons. Of this, 177,200 tons were exported from the chloride process, a 3.04% decrease from the previous year, while 739,300 tons were exported from the sulfuric acid process, a 6.39% decrease from the previous year.

Future outlook:

SunSirs’ titanium dioxide analysts believe the domestic titanium dioxide market continued its downward trend this month. Domestic downstream demand was off-season, leading to cautious new orders. Internationally, export conditions remained weak. Titanium dioxide prices are expected to remain weak and stable in the short term, with actual transaction prices subject to negotiation on a case-by-case basis.
