China's phenol exports in the first half of 2025 were 28,800 tons, down 25.39% year-on-year. Due to fierce international competition, China's phenol exports have been squeezed. At present, domestic phenol is still at a relatively low level in recent years. In addition, with the expectation of increased new supply in the second half of the year, it is expected that export operations may have an increasing trend.
China's phenol export destinations are relatively concentrated. According to customs export data statistics, China's phenol was mainly exported to South Korea, India, Thailand, and Vietnam from January to June 2025, accounting for a total of 90% of the export volume. From January to June 2025, China's phenol export trade mode is mainly general trade, accounting for 57.25%; followed by goods entering and leaving the bonded supervision area, accounting for 35.11%.
In the second half of 2025, China's new phenol production capacity is expected to be 840,000 tons, and domestic production may increase further, mainly import contracts, and the export market still needs to be developed. The current domestic phenol price is at a low level this year, and there may be export negotiation opportunities, but the international competition is fierce, and the second half of the year is expected to be affected. It is necessary to expand export negotiations to India, Vietnam, Thailand and other places. On the whole, China's phenol exports are expected to be stable in the second half of the year.
