According to the monitoring system of SunSirs, the overall price of flake caustic soda increased in February. At the beginning of the month, the average market price was around 3,300 RMB/ton, and at the end of the month, the average market price was 3,383.33 RMB/ton, with a price increase of 2.53%, a decrease of 17.48% compared to the same period last year.

Upstream caustic soda

According to monitoring data from SunSirs, the overall price of caustic soda was weak in February. At the beginning of the month, the average price in the Shandong market was 784 RMB/ton, and at the end of the month, the average price in the Shandong market was around 792 RMB/ton. The overall price decreased by 0.26%, and the price decreased by 14.63% compared to the same period last year.

Market outlook

SunSirs’ analysts believe that liquid alkali prices had declined this month, while flake caustic soda prices had risen. After the Spring Festival, traders actively quoted prices, and the price of flake caustic soda increased. However, downstream demand was limited, and prices tended to stabilize after rising. Overall, the price of flake caustic soda may still remain stable in the short term, depending on downstream market demand.
