Price trend

According to data from SunSirs, as of October 23, the price of bulk chloroform in Shandong Province was 2,925 RMB/ton, a decrease of 4.10% from last Monday's 3,050 RMB/ton. The prices of raw materials methanol and liquid chlorine had slightly decreased, while the cost center of chloroform had decreased; Downstream construction was temporarily stable, with on-demand inquiries for chloroform. Market transactions were flat, and chloroform enterprises had accumulated a small inventory, and ex-factory prices were lowered slightly.
Analysis review
Recently (10.16-10.23), the domestic methane chloride production had slightly decreased compared to the previous period, with some low load operating devices experiencing increased load. Some enterprises had shut down their devices for maintenance, and the overall operating rate was around 73%.
In the recent period (10.16-10.23), the prices of raw materials methanol and liquid chlorine had weakened, and the cost center of chloroform had decreased. According to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, as of October 23, the spot price of methanol was 2,435 RMB/ton, a decrease of 2.99% from last Monday's 2,510 RMB/ton. The price of raw material liquid chlorine had decreased, and as of the 23rd, the acceptance price of tank trucks was 300 RMB/ton, which was lower than last Monday's 400 RMB/ton.
The overall operation of refrigerant R22 was stable, and in the short term, there were more inquiries on demand for chloroform. Support for chloroform had slightly weakened, and the total production quota of R22 had been reduced by 19% to 181,800 tons in 2023. In the medium to long term, overall support for chloroform demand had weakened.
Market outlook
Methane chloride data analysts from SunSirs believe that both cost and demand support was weakened slightly recently, and it is expected that the chloroform market will fluctuate and consolidate.
