SunSirs: Maintenance Starts and Supply Increment, China PC Market Drops
September 27 2023 11:26:51SunSirs(Selena)

According to the bulk list data of SunSirs, the domestic PC market has weakened recently, and spot prices of various brands have generally declined. As of September 25th, the mixed benchmark price of Shangshang Society PC is around 17,033.33 RMB/ton, with a +0.20% increase or decrease compared to the beginning of the month.

In terms of raw materials: From the above figure, it can be seen that the domestic bisphenol A market has experienced a high decline. On the one hand, the focus of the phenol/acetone market on the raw material side has decreased, leading to weakened support; On the other hand, the early supplier benefits are basically exhausted, and the downstream just needs to pick up the goods. It is expected that bisphenol A may continue its weak trend in the short term.

In terms of supply: Last week, the overall operating rate of domestic PCs significantly increased, and the overall industry load was above 60%. During this period, some maintenance devices returned to work, coupled with the approaching resumption of work by Wanhua and the delay in maintenance by Zhejiang Petrochemical, the supply of goods on site increased and there are still expectations of an increase. The factory pricing of enterprises has become loose, and support for spot prices has weakened.

In terms of demand: Last week, the downstream of PC just needed to maintain production, although under the influence of multiple positive factors in the early stage, the buyer had some upward movement. However, the current operating position of terminal enterprises is average, and the pre holiday stocking frenzy has subsided, coupled with terminal enterprises' concerns about the market, the demand side is currently not providing enough support for spot prices.

The PC market fell last week. The upstream bisphenol A market has weakened, providing general support for PC costs. The load of domestic polymerization plants has increased, leading to an increase in spot supply in the market. Traders have a weak mentality and their offers tend to be flexible. Downstream enterprises have poor stocking skills and enthusiasm for receiving goods. It is expected that the PC market may continue this weak trend in the short term.
