SunSirs: Limited Improvement in Supply Side, China PC Market slightly rebounded after a Decline in June
July 04 2023 14:32:20SunSirs(Selena)

According to the bulk list data of SunSirs, the domestic PC market rebounded after a decline in June, and spot prices of various brands generally declined. As of June 30th, the reference quotation for the PC sample enterprises of Business Society was around 14,916.67 RMB/ton, a decrease of -1.32% compared to the beginning of the month.

In terms of raw materials: In June, the bisphenol A market first fell and then rose. In terms of raw materials, acetone has increased in the middle of the month, and the market activity of phenol has increased. The bisphenol A market was stimulated by strong bidding in the latter half of the year, coupled with a decrease in spot supply of bisphenol A and an increase in prices, which provides reasonable support for the PC cost side.

In terms of supply: In June, the overall operating rate of domestic PCs was lowered from 70% to below 60%, and the current industry operating rate is about 58%, gradually relieving the industry load from a three-year high. However, the on-site supply is still abundant, and the factory price is under pressure to break through and decline. Multi brand supply is flooding the market, with weak support for spot goods.

In terms of demand: In June, downstream PC buyers just needed to maintain production, and the business owners had a heavy wait-and-see mentality. The auction situation has weakened, and transaction prices have generally decreased. At present, the starting position of terminal enterprises is not high, and the actual stocking situation is not good. On site trading tends to have a price but no market. Traders have a poor mentality, resulting in a bearish end of the month and increased difficulty in arbitrage.

The PC market continued to be weak in June. The upstream bisphenol A market fell and rose, slightly improving the support for PC costs. The load of domestic polymerization plants has been adjusted back, but the pattern of abundant supply remains unchanged, and the demand side has not improved significantly. There is currently no sign of the PC market breaking free from the supply-demand contradiction, and it is expected that the upward trend may be hindered.
