SunSir: Sodium Metabisulfite Prices Fell Sharply in June
June 30 2023 10:44:10SunSirs(John)

Price trend

According to the commodity market analysis system of SunSirs, the price of sodium metabisulfite in China dropped sharply in June. The average price of industrial sodium metabisulfite was 2,250.00 RMB/ton on June 1, 1,966.67 RMB/ton on April 29, a sharp drop of 12.59% in the month.

Analysis review

In May, the price of domestic soda ash dropped sharply by 20%, the price of sulfur continued to fluctuate at a low level. Pressed by the sharp decline in the price of upstream raw materials, in June, Sodium metabisulfite manufacturers successively lowered the ex factory price, driving the domestic Sodium metabisulfite market price down significantly. In June, the upstream raw material price continued to be weak, and under the pressure of continuous low cost, the domestic market price of Sodium metabisulfite continued to decline in a weak way, falling to around 1,900-2,200 RMB/ton at the end of the month, with a decline of 12.59% in the month. Market prices had significantly declined, downstream trading entities had a strong wait-and-see attitude, and the overall increase in new orders in the industry was limited. Enterprises mainly focused on completing old customer orders.

As of June 29, the price of domestic soda ash fell by 5.77% in the month, and the price of sulfur fell by 11.93% in the month. The continued weak price of raw materials will further suppress the future market price of sodium metabisulfite.

Market outlook

Analysts from SunSirs believe that the cost of raw materials continued to decline, and downstream trade entities had a strong wait-and-see attitude, which was full of bad news. In July, the domestic market price of sodium metabisulfite will continue to be weaker under pressure.
