SunSirs: Global Crude Steel Production Fell 2.4% Year-on-year in April

World Iron and Steel Association news on May 24: According to data from the World Steel Association, global crude steel production in April 2023 decreased by 2.4% year-on-year to 161.4 million tons, and global crude steel production from January to April 2023 decreased by 0.3% year-on-year to 622.7 million tons . In April 2023, China's crude steel production was 92.6 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 1.5%. India produced 10.7 million tonnes, up 3.2%. Japan's output was 7.2 million tons, down 3.1 percent. The United States produced 6.6 million tonnes, down 5.3%. Production in Russia is estimated at 6.4 million tons, up 1.9%. South Korea produced 5.7 million tons, up 3.0 percent. Germany produced 3.2 million tons, down 3.8%. Brazil produced 2.8 million tonnes, down 5.9%. Turkey produced 2.7 million tons, down 20.6%. Iran produced 3.1 million tonnes, up 5.9%.

Crude steel production by region

In April 2023, Africa produced 1.3 million tonnes, up 4.8% year-on-year. Production in Asia and Oceania was 121.1 million tons, down 1.5%. Production in the European Union (27 countries) was 11.1 million tons, down 11.7%. Production in Europe and other countries was 3.5 million tons, down 17.3%. Production in the Middle East was 4.2 million tons, up 4.2 percent. North American production was 9.2 million tons, down 4.6 percent. Russia and other CIS + Ukraine produced 7.5 million tons, up 5.9%. South America produced 3.6 million tons, down 2.2%.
