SunSirs: Since April, the MEK market experienced a rise followed by a fall (April 1-12)
April 13 2023 10:40:51SunSirs(John)

Price trend

According to the data monitoring of SunSirs, as of April 12, 2023, the domestic MEK market price reference was 8,500 RMB/ton, which was 100 RMB/ton lower than that of April 1, 2023 (8,600 RMB/ton), a 1.16% decline.

Analysis review

From the data monitoring chart of SunSirs Society, it can be seen that since April (4.1-4.12), the overall domestic MEK market had shown a trend of first rising and then falling. At the beginning of April, some devices in the MEK field were shut down for maintenance. The tight spot supply of MEK supported a narrow rise in the market and then stabilized and consolidated. However, the overall performance of downstream demand was average. Due to insufficient demand and volume, the domestic MEK market had started to experience a downturn since the 10th. Some factories and suppliers had slightly lowered the price of MEK, with a reduction of around 100-200 RMB/ton. As of April 12, the domestic MEK market price was around 8,200-8,700 RMB/ton, and the low end price was 8,000 RMB/ton. There was a large difference between high and low prices on the market.

Market outlook

As of the 12th, the overall trading atmosphere in the MEK market was quiet. As the weather gradually warmed up, downstream demand gradually improved. In addition, as the May Day holiday approaching, downstream or phased stocking may occur. Therefore, the MEK Data Analyst of SunSirs Society believes that the possibility of a significant decline in the domestic MEK market in the short term is limited, and the market situation will mostly be stable and organized. The specific trend still needs to pay more attention to specific news changes on the supply and demand side.
