According to the weekly report released by BAGE, as of the week of January 11, Argentina's 2022/23 corn planting progress was 83%, which was 13.1% higher than the 69.9% a week ago, but still 7.8% lower than the same period last year.

BAGE estimates Argentina's 2022/2023 corn acreage at 7.1 million hectares, down from a previous estimate of 7.3 million hectares and a decrease of 600,000 hectares, or 7.8%, from the previous year's 7.7 million hectares as dry weather affected planting.

BAGE expects corn production to be 50 million tons, down from 52 million tons in 2021/22, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture lowered its 2022/23 corn forecast for Argentina by 3 million tons in its Jan. The forecast of 55 million tons was lowered to 52 million tons, slightly higher than the previous year's 51.5 million tons.
