From January to July 2026, China's billet exports reached 12.1196 million tons, with a substantial year-on-year growth. The annual export volume is expected to be 18 to 20 million tons, showing a trend of high at the beginning and stable afterwards. Exports are concentrated on billets and slabs, with Southeast Asia as the largest market. The core logic lies in the expansion of overseas rolling material production capacity but insufficient supporting ironmaking capacity. Attention should be paid to risks such as the recovery of Iranian supply, anti-dumping, CBAM carbon tariffs and the inverted spread between domestic and foreign markets in the future. If profits turn negative, orders may shrink rapidly.
