SunSirs: Upstream Styrene Fell, PS Prices Fell Slightly

According to the monitoring data of SunSirs, the average price of PS common materials at the beginning of this week was 11,750 RMB/ton, and the average price of PS common materials at the weekend was 11,283 RMB/ton, down 3.97% and up 2.89% compared with the same period last year.

Analysis review

Styrene fell, merchants were under pressure, and price cuts were the main operation. Zhenjiang Chimei PG33 was quoted at 10,420 RMB/ton, Taiwan Taihua 5250 was quoted at 11,550 RMB/ton, Ningbo Taihua 535N was quoted at 10,150 RMB/ton, Shanghai SECCO 123P was quoted at 10,100 RMB/ton, Thailand Petrochemical 150 was out of stock, and 650 was quoted at 10,910 RMB/ton, Guangzhou Petrochemical 525 was reported 10,300 RMB/ton.

Styrene tends to be in a narrow market, and downstream purchases are made on demand. The pace of shipments by merchants is relatively slow, and the transaction volume is insufficient. However, the supply is still tight. The mainstream price of GPPS (polyphenylene sulfide) in the East China market is 10,500-11,600 RMB/ton, the mainstream price of HIPS (polystyrene) is 10,700-12,600 RMB/ton.

Market outlook

At present, the downstream demand for PS is deserted, and it is expected that the domestic PS (polystyrene) market will remain stagnant and consolidate within a narrow range in the short term.
