SunSirs: The Melamine Market Was Running Weakly (May 20-26)

According to the monitoring sample data of SunSirs, as of May 26, the average price of melamine enterprises was 10,125.00 RMB/ton, a decrease of 0.49% compared with the price on May 20, a decrease of 0.41% compared with the price on April 26 and a decrease of 17.91% in a three-month cycle.

Analysis review

Recently (5.20-5.26), the melamine market was running weakly. Recently, the price of raw material urea declined, but it was still at a high level, and the cost support was still strong. The operating rate of melamine was at a high level, and the demand side has not improved significantly. The downstream consumption of melamine was insufficient, the manufacturers were under pressure, the market trading atmosphere was flat, and the price of melamine fell.

For upstream urea, the comprehensive domestic price of urea fell slightly on May 25, down 10 RMB/ton or 0.31% from the price on May 24, and up 38.63% from the same period last year. Upstream coal and liquefied natural gas prices fluctuated slightly, with general cost support.

From the perspective of demand: agricultural demand was weakening, industrial demand was general, and downstream customers had a strong wait-and-see attitude towards high-priced urea. The policy of guaranteeing supply and stabilizing prices remained unchanged.

Market outlook

The melamine analyst of SunSirs believes that the current price of raw material urea is high, the cost pressure is still there, the supply side is operating at a high level, the demand side is not performing well, and the supply and demand support is insufficient. It is expected that in the short term, the melamine market will be dominated by weak consolidation.
