SunSirs: Aniline Price Was Stable with Small Fluctuations This Week (January 11-17)

According to data from SunSirs’ bulk list, the price of aniline in Shandong fell slightly at the beginning of this week and rebounded over the weekend. On January 17, the price in Shandong was 7,800-7,900 RMB/ton; the price of aniline in Nanjing was 8,000-8,100 RMB/ton. The average price was the same as last week, the same as at the beginning of the month, and was up 21.54% from the same period last year.

Analysis review  

In terms of cost, at the beginning of this week, the price of pure benzene continued to rise, supported by the favorable rise of crude oil. Later, with the decline in crude oil and the decline in the external market, the domestic market's mentality turned cautious, and the prices of individual factories were lowered at the weekend. This week, the listing price of Sinopec's pure benzene increased by 100 RMB/ton to 4,650 RMB/ton, and the price in some parts of North China to 4,500 RMB/ton. The total amount of pure benzene stocks at East China ports on Monday rose by about 2 million tons from last week. On Sunday (January 17), the price of pure benzene was 4,230-4,650 RMB/ton (average price 4,506 RMB/ton), an increase of 82 RMB/ton or 1.85% from last week.

The price of nitric acid was stable this week compared with last week. On Friday (January 15), the production price of nitric acid in East China was 2,050 RMB/ton. The price was unchanged from the beginning of the month; it was up 29.47% from the same period last year.

Affected by public health incidents in Hebei and rain and snow in the north, transportation was affected, and the downstream demand in the north was subject to certain restrictions. However, the relative operating rate of aniline enterprises was not high, the spot supply was reduced, the inventory was controllable, and the price was firm.

Market outlook

In terms of costs, due to the public health incident in Hebei and the rain and snow in the north, downstream terminals have the possibility of parking early. Pure benzene companies may lower their prices to promote sales. And the external disk has continued to weaken. The price of pure benzene is expected to decline weakly next week. Pay attention to the downstream stocking and shutdown before the Spring Festival, the trend of crude oil, external disk and the trend of styrene.
