SunSirs: Important Points of White Granulated Sugar in 2020

1. As of the end of January, the cumulative average sales price of finished white sugar from key sugar companies is 5,090 yuan/ton

Statistics of the data reported by the China Sugar Industry Association on key sugar companies (groups) across the country: The sugar production period of 2018/19 as of the end of January 2019, key sugar companies (groups) have processed a total of 38,063,400 tons of sugar and produced sugar The volume was 4.2132 million tons (4.5442 million tons during the same period in the previous sugar production period), and the average sales price of finished white sugar for key sugar companies (groups) in January 2019 was 5,053 yuan/ton.

2. EU: Sugar exports in January dropped sharply year-on-year

The EU only exported 102,000 tons of white sugar in January, which was significantly lower than the 281,000 tons in January 2018 and the 207,000 tons in December 2018. The EU exported 734,000 tons of sugar from October to January in the 18/19 milling season, a year-on-year decrease of 43.1%, mainly exported to Israel, Egypt, and Ghana.

3. India: The cumulative sugar production of the 19/20 crushing season as of the end of February decreased by 21.8% year-on-year

As of February 29, the 2019/20 crushing season, India has 453 sugar mills operating, a year-on-year decrease of 67, and a total of 68 sugar mills have been squeezed. The cumulative sugar production in India was 19.484 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 21.8 %.

4. As of March 15th, Hainan produced 119,700 tons of sugar, and the production and sales rate was 6.43%

As of March 15, 2020, the province has squeezed 867,800 tons of sugarcane, and has produced 119,700 tons of sugar, a decrease of 38,400 tons from 158,100 tons compared with the same period of last year. Haitou Sugar Factory was 14.71%, an increase of 1.88% year-on-year; Longli Sugar Factory, which had the largest increase, was 13.54%, an increase of 2.49% year-on-year).

5. As of the end of March, the sugar production and sales rate in Xinjiang was 41%, a year-on-year decrease of 15.07%

In the 2019/20 crushing season, Xinjiang produced 582,800 tons of sugar, an increase of 25,500 tons over the same period last year. As of the end of March, Xinjiang had sold 238,100 tons of sugar, a year-on-year decrease of 73,500 tons; the production-sales rate was 40.85%.

6. From January to February, my country imported 320,000 tons of sugar, an increase of 118.7% year-on-year

According to data released by the General Administration of Customs, China imported 200,000 tons of sugar in May, an increase of 13,000 tons year-on-year, and a significant decrease of 270,000 tons from the previous month, basically in line with market estimates. From January to May 2018, my country imported 1.1019 million tons of sugar, a year-on-year decrease of 165,100 tons.

7. From January to March, China's finished sugar production was 6.718 million tons, down 16.8% year-on-year

China's finished sugar production in March 2020 was 1.64 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 43.2%; my country's cumulative production of finished sugar was 6.718 million tons from January to March, a year-on-year decrease of 16.8%.

8. China imported 300,000 tons of sugar in August, a year-on-year decrease

In May of this year, China imported 300,000 tons of sugar, an increase of 180,000 tons from April this year, and a decrease of 80,000 tons from May of last year; my country imported 830,000 tons of sugar from January to May 2020, a decrease of 90,000 tons from the same period last year.

9. Hainan: As of the end of August, the sales rate was 58.06%

Hainan Province imported 869,500 tons of sugarcane in 2019/20, a year-on-year decrease of 494,100 tons; produced 120,900 tons of sugar, a year-on-year decrease of 49,300 tons, and the mixed sugar yield rate was 13.90%. As of August 31, 2020, Hainan Province had 70,200 tons of sugar were sold, a decrease of 49,700 tons from 119,900 tons year-on-year; the production-sales ratio was 58.06%.

10. Brazil exported 4.2 million tons of sugar in October

Brazil exported 4.23.1 million tons of sugar in October, a new single-month high in this season. At the same time, it was much higher than the export volume of 1.9177 million tons in October 2019, a year-on-year increase of 119.9%.

11. As of the end of November, the country's cumulative sugar production was 1.11 million tons

As of the end of November 2020, the country’s total sugar production during this sugar refining period was 1.1132 million tons (1.2726 million tons of sugar was produced during the same period in the upper sugar refining period). Among them, 214,500 tons of cane sugar were produced (375,000 tons of cane sugar during the same period of the upper sugar production period); 897,700 tons of beet sugar were produced (897.6 million tons of beet sugar produced during the same period of the upper sugar period).

12. India: Export subsidies will boost sugar mill profits by 100-200 points

The Indian government recently announced an export subsidy of 35 billion rupees for the 2020-21 crushing season, which will help keep Indian sugar exports close to last year's level. Exports coupled with stable domestic demand and rising ethanol prices have prompted more sugarcane to switch to ethanol production. This fiscal year, the operating profit margin of Indian sugar mills may increase by 100-200 basis points to 10.5-11.5%.
