SunSirs: Glass Market is rising steadily (10.08-10.12)

1. Price Trend

According to the monitoring of SunSirs, the average price of glass was 19.98 RMB/㎡ at the beginning of last week and 20.07 RMB/㎡ at the end of that week, with a price increase of 0.45%.

On October 11, the glass commodity index was 110.88, up 0.27 points from the previous day, a record high in the cycle, up 49.11% from the lowest point of 74.36 on February 16, 2016. (Note: Period refers to the period from October to 16, 2012 to the present)

2. Market Analysis

Products: Road transportation resumed after National Day. Last week, the glass market continued the previous trend, rising steadily. Regionally, the quotations in the markets of Southwest China, North China and Northwest China increased slightly, while those in Central China and East China were mainly on the lookout, and there was no significant change in prices for the time being.

Capacity: According to industry association data, the utilization rate of glass production capacity on October 11, 2019 was 69.81%; it rose - 0.36% from last week, up - 2.68% from last year; after eliminating excess capacity, the utilization rate of glass production capacity was 83.09%, up - 0.43% from last week, up - 3.69% from last year. The glass production capacity is 931.5 million heavy boxes, an increase of - 4.8 million heavy boxes compared with last week, and an increase of - 25.5 million heavy boxes compared with last year.

Industry chain: The price of upstream soda market is stable. At present, the main domestic price of light soda is 1,650-1,770 RMB/ton; the main domestic price of heavy soda is 1,750-1,850 RMB/ton. This week, the market of heavy soda has not changed much, and the shipment situation of manufacturers is relatively smooth.

On October 12, the soda industry chain index was 66.23, which was the same as the previous day. It was 36.99% lower than the peak of 105.11 points in the cycle (2011-12-01), and 3.45% higher than the low of 64.02 points on August 09, 2019. (Note: Period refers to 2011-12-01 to date)
