SunSirs: Domestic Bromine Market Is Firming up Due to Tight Supply

September 24 2020 21:00:02     SunSirs (John)

Price trend

According to the data monitoring of SunSirs’ bulk list, the price of bromine in Shandong has risen strongly due to the relationship between supply and demand. As of September 22, the average price in Shandong was about 30,333 RMB/ton, an increase of 4.6% from the beginning of the month, and an overall decrease of 0.95% from the same period last year.

Analysis review

At present, domestic bromine companies generally have low inventories and production is not as expected. The downstream flame retardant market demand is gradually improving, and the market trading performance is acceptable. The industry as a whole is in a tightly balanced state. The company's inventory is not pressured. At present, mainstream bromine companies offer about 30,000-31,000 RMB/ton.

On the upstream side, the market price of sulfur remains strong, downstream traders and factories mainly replenish goods on demand, the sales of refineries in various regions are acceptable, and the seller's mentality is good. The sulfur market is mainly bullish in the later period, currently around 843 RMB/ton; The sulphuric acid market fluctuates upwards, and the downstream demand for sulphuric acid is more active. Under the contradiction between supply and demand, the product trend is going up. In the short-term Shandong market, under the influence of supply, demand and raw materials, the sulphuric acid market may rise slightly, currently around 392 RMB/ton; The domestic liquid caustic soda price is stable but weak, and the downstream stocking intention before the holiday has weakened. The industry is obviously bearish on the market after the National Day. The main downstream flame retardant market of bromine has gradually recovered, and the demand side is still able to support the price of bromine; industries such as pharmaceutical and pesticide intermediates have started generally, and the demand side has no support for the price of bromine.

Market outlook

Bromine industry analysts of SunSirs believe that the downstream flame retardant market has basically completed before the National Day, market activity has declined, and corporate production has gradually recovered. Some downstream companies have a certain resistance to the high price of bromine. It is expected that the bromine market will operate stably in a short period of time and the game between supply and demand will intensify.
