SunSirs: The Maleic Anhydride Market Is Stable with Small Growth Due to Limited Supply

According to data from SunSirs, as of August 13th, the average domestic maleic anhydride price was 6,766 RMB/ton (tax included), and the overall market rose steadily, an increase of 5.18% from the average price of 6,433 RMB/ton in the same period last month.

On August 12, the maleic anhydride commodity index was 63.74, which was the same as previous day, a decrease of 48.46% from the highest point of the cycle at 123.67 points (2017-12-26), and an increase of 24.54% from the lowest point of 51.18 points on April 14, 2020. (Note: Period refers to 2011-09-01 to present).

Analysis review

Affected by the maintenance of enterprises in the main producing areas, the supply of maleic anhydride in the domestic market is limited recently, and the pressure on corporate inventories is not large. Therefore, the ex-factory price has risen steadily. The downstream resin industry started at an overall low level, but the company's inventory is low, and the demand side still exists, so the support for the price of maleic anhydride is acceptable.

The focus of the hydrogenated benzene market has fallen, and companies have successively lowered their ex-factory prices. The downstream market demand is limited, and the sentiment of lowering prices is obvious; the downstream resin industry is in a sideways order, the overall market start is low, and terminal demand is still flat.

Market outlook

The maleic anhydride product analyst of SunSirs believes that although the downstream market demand is flat, the overall supply of maleic anhydride is tight, and the supply side supports the price of maleic anhydride. In addition, the inventory pressure of the company is not large, so it will maintain a firm operation in the short term.
