SunSirs: This Week, the Price of 2-EH in Shandong Rose First and Then Fell (April 13-17)

According to the price monitoring of SunSirs, the ex factory price of 2-EH in Shandong Province rose first and then fell this week. This week, the average ex factory price of main 2-EH in Shandong increased from 5,450.00 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week to 5,933.33 RMB/ton at the end of the week, up 8.87%, down 24.42% compared with the same period last year. Overall, 2-EH rose this week, with the commodity index at 43.63 on April 17.

Analysis review   

Product: The current domestic 2-EH plant operating rate is acceptable; Hualu Hengsheng 80,000-ton/year 2-EH plant is operating normally, and this week's offer is firm; Jiangsu Huachang Chemical's 2-EH plant has an annual production capacity of 80,000 tons, with no maintenance plan.

The factory quotations of mainstream 2-EH manufacturers in Shandong rose this week: Jianlan Chemical's 2-EH quotation this weekend was 6,500 RMB/ton, compared with the beginning of the week, the quotation increased by 1,200 RMB/ton; Li Huayi's 2-EH price this weekend was 6,000 RMB/ton, compared with the beginning of the week, the quotation increased by 250 RMB/ton;

Industrial chain: Upstream raw material market: The propylene market fell sharply this week. The quotation fell from 9445.55 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week to 6159.09 RMB/ton at the weekend, a decrease of 34.79%, a year-on-year decrease of 13.36%. The price of the upstream raw material market fell, which was affected by the supply and demand side, which had a negative impact on the price of 2-EH.

Downstream market conditions: DOP ex-factory prices rose this week. DOP quotes rose from 5,866.67 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week to 6,400.00 RMB/ton at the weekend, an increase of 9.09%, a decrease of 21.95% from the same period last year. Downstream customers are more active in purchasing 2-EH, demand for 2-EH is higher, and DOP price increase has a positive impact on 2-EH market. The aftermarket operators mostly wait and see the trend of DOP.

Market outlook

In late April, the market trend of Shandong 2-EH may fluctuate and fell slightly. Upstream propylene prices fell sharply, cost support was weak, and downstream purchases were generally motivated. SunSirs 2-EH analysts believe that in late April, under the influence of supply and demand and raw materials in Shandong 2-EH market, the 2-EH market may decline slightly.
