SunSirs: Low Demand for Eggs

March 23 2020 10:10:00     SunSirs (Daisy)

The price of eggs at the beginning of this week is 5.83 RMB/kg, and the price of eggs this weekend is 5.78 RMB /kg. The price fell by 0.86%.

Product: In the first half of 2020, the price of pig still has a comparative advantage compared with the market price of poultry meat and eggs. However, the production capacity of poultry meat has been on the high side in recent years, and the overall substitution and pull effect will be greatly reduced compared with last year. Therefore, the support for egg price will be limited.

Layer Storage: In December 2019, the number of layer storage was 1.135 billion, down 1.72% from the previous month and up 8.45% from last year. In December 2019, the number of supplementary columns for raising chicks was 98.5 million, with a month-on-month increase of 3.85% and a year-on-year increase of 45.11%.

From the perspective of scale, the number of layer farmers below 20,000 will decrease, the number of layer farmers between 20,000 and 100,000 will increase, and the number of layer farmers above 100,000 will increase. The whole year of chicken seedling supplement in 2019 will be over 5 years, and the supply of layer hens in the later period or even the whole year next year will be sufficient, which will restrict the trend of long-term egg price.

Market Forecast: The rebound in poultry prices in March is expected to stimulate the amount of chicken panning out, egg cold storage stock is still large, and the factory orderly return to work. As for catering industry, as school consumption is limited, it is expected that the egg spot market shock.
